Questions teams ask.

Short answers about what Otmar does, how he follows up, and how he keeps your workspace safe.

About Otmar

What is Otmar?

Otmar is an AI teammate who lives in Slack and Telegram. He notices when someone asks for something or promises it, keeps track of who owes what to whom and by when, does the research and the legwork, and follows each request until it’s done.

Who is Otmar for?

Teams of 5 to 50 people who run on chat, where work is asked for in threads and gets lost in them. A founder or team lead usually invites him, and everyone in the channels he’s in gets the follow-ups.

How is Otmar different from a task manager?

Nobody has to enter anything. Requests stay in the conversation where they were made, and Otmar keeps track of them there. He nudges, closes and reports on his own, so there’s no board to keep up to date and nobody has to tag him.

Which languages does Otmar speak?

He replies in the language each person writes in, so one team can mix Ukrainian, English and Norwegian without anyone switching.

How he works

How does Otmar follow up on requests in Slack?

He reads the channels you invite him to and notes every request that has an owner and a date. If the date gets close and the thread goes quiet, he checks in with that person in a direct message, with a link to the original message and three ways out: done, tell the asker a new day, or not mine. When the work ships, he closes the request and tells whoever asked.

Will Otmar nag my team?

No. He checks in once before a request is due, and once more if it slips; after that it waits for the weekly plan. Never in quiet hours, always in a direct message with a link to the original message, and never like a reprimand: “still open”, not “you forgot”. Anyone can mute his check-ins for themselves.

What if Otmar gets a request wrong?

Every check-in has a “not mine” button, and you can tell him something wasn’t a request at all. When he can’t tell whether something is done, he asks the person instead of guessing.

Does Otmar plan the week?

Every Monday morning, everyone with open requests gets a short plan for the week in a direct message, with what’s at risk first. People with nothing open hear nothing.

Does Otmar work in Telegram too?

Yes. He joins your team groups in Telegram and keeps a private chat with anyone who starts one, and he follows requests there the same way he does in Slack.

Can Otmar do research and draft replies?

Yes. Ask him in a direct message or a thread, and he searches the web and your threads, issues and merge requests, compares the options and comes back with an answer and its sources. He drafts replies, briefs and documents as well. Anything that would leave your workspace waits for a person to approve it.

Does Otmar work with GitHub and GitLab?

He follows issues, pull requests and merge requests, so a request closes itself when the work ships. In GitLab he can open a merge request when a fix is small. A merge to main always waits for a person.

Safety and your data

Is it safe to add an AI teammate to Slack?

He reads only the channels you invite him to and never sees private conversations between teammates. Your messages are never used to train AI models, and you can remove him from a channel, or from your workspace, at any time.

What does Otmar keep about my team?

Who asked whom for what, by when, and a link to the message where it was said. He doesn’t keep copies of your messages: when he needs the details, he reads the thread again, so he always sees what’s there now. Telegram doesn’t let him read back, so there he keeps short notes in his own words instead (what was asked, what was decided), and lets them go 30 days after a request closes, or after a year.

Will Otmar send anything outside my workspace on his own?

No. A message to a client, a merge to main or an invoice waits for a person to approve it. He drafts it, shows it to you, and sends it only when you say so.

Can I correct what Otmar knows?

Yes. Tell him in a reply or a direct message that something is done, has a new owner or a new date, or wasn’t a request at all, and he updates it.

Getting started

How do I start?

Open Otmar, connect Slack or Telegram, and invite him to your busiest channel. From the first message, he keeps track of who promised what.

Can I try Otmar in one channel first?

Yes. Start with one busy channel. He reads only the channels you invite him to, so you can add more when you’re ready, or remove him at any time.
